How to Safely Remove Nub Marks Without Damaging Plastic

Nothing ruins the aesthetics of a beautifully painted or panel-lined Gunpla like a massive, white stress mark right in the middle of a dark piece of armor. Here is the professional method for flawless nub removal.

The Double-Cut Method

Never cut the part flush against the armor while it's still on the runner! The pressure will stress the plastic, leaving a permanent white mark.

1. First Cut: Cut the part out of the runner, leaving a small chunk of the gate (the plastic connecting it) attached to the part.
2. Second Cut: Use a pair of single-bladed, ultra-sharp nippers (like the legendary GodHand SPN-120) to slice the remaining nub completely flush. Because you are only cutting a tiny sliver of plastic, there is virtually zero stress.

The Glass File Technique

If a small bump remains after the double cut, do not use your hobby knife to aggressively slice it off. Instead, use a specialized nano-glass file (like the Dspiae Siren). Gently buff the nub in one direction until it is completely flush. The glass file leaves a remarkably smooth, glossy finish that traditional sandpapers cannot match.
